Age of Worship

With the rise of Vesminism, the worship of a pantheon, the Creations began to create places of worship. They built temples to talk to their gods, statues to represent what the Creation’s thought their deity’s appearance was and began praying on a regular basis. This started an age of worship where religion was to be found in every corner of The Materium.

The Creations celebrated their gods throughout the years, from worshipping the changes in the seasons to drinking in the name of them. The Lesser Deities took on the forms that the mortals considered them to appear as and a balance was found between mortals and Lesser Deities.

Religions began almost in a blink of any eye as far as the timeline of Inventa is concerned, but like all beings in the multiverse, there were good and evil doers at work. For every good religion founded, an evil equivalent was also formed worshipping the misdeeds some of the Creations had. A lot of the Cardinal Deities wanted to oppose such worships, directly impacting the mortals and forcefully changing their views. Before the Cardinal Deities could intervene however they were called to a summoning from The Allseer.

This summoning of Cardinal Deities became a regular event and is known today as The Collective. Within the first instance of this meeting, the Cardinal Deities voiced their concerns for the evil worship. After days of debating back and forth, the Deities agreed that there must be a balance in the Multiverse to allow for long-term sustainable life.

This agreement led to the Cardinal Deities all giving some of their divine essence to create a deity that would oversee the equilibrium of the Multiverse and ensure that neither good, nor evil, would overthrow the other for sustained periods of time. This was the creation of possibly the humblest deity, The Balance.

Now as the Cardinal Deities no longer need to worry about the state of the Multiverse and didn’t fear being overthrown by a growing evil power, they set about helping their worshippers where they saw fit. Holy people were granted limited powers from the divine, allowing them to harness abilities similar what the early Titans once did but with restrictions as to not allow direct interference with the Deities themselves. The Creations weren’t taught Divine Magic, but remained with only gifted super natural abilities at this early point.

The Balance knew that good outweighed evil within the scale of the Multiverse and understood that should there be a war evil would lose every time. This is where the most controversial of events unfolded during the Age of Worship, the creation of evil from a neutral deity. In fact, most Lesser Deities that didn’t already exist were made by The Balance to ensure an equilibrium that would allow good and evil to thrive off of one another.

This act saw the Creations realise that the power of the Lesser Deities was not to be questioned, but it also meant that clashes were on the horizon.

As temples were built, religions were founded, and the Age of Worship took to centre stage it was here that mortals would fight amongst themselves. The fights were usually not for land or resources as the Deities done their best to give the Creations what they wanted. Instead, the battle the Creations fought were in the name of their [Lesser [Deities]]. Holy wars that stretched throughout The Materium, crusades from one primal nation to another which led to the eradication of some religions all-together.

The Creations’ wars, battles, crusades, or by any other name known, saw a refinement in the worshipped pantheon. Good, neutral, and evil Lesser Deities were forgotten about as their worshippers fell. It did not mean that the Lesser Deities themselves met the same fate, some would simply retract their presence or withdraw from the main pantheon that would govern the Creations.

The Creations were not the only ones fighting holy wars however. Titans which had not ascended to god-hood and were left worshipping the divines would be involved in the fighting. Titans that had warped themselves to be something else, like Daemons, Giants, or monster beyond what we know today joined in the wars.

Slowly The Materium was consumed by fighting and the Titans turned on the Creations. An imbalance in The Balance’s equilibrium emerged. Evil forces saw an opportunity to strike and from the depths of the Multiverse, beyond The Materium, the evil Lesser Deities would rise and aid the Titans in their attempt to eliminate the Creations.

This very action triggered The All Lives War, the single, most largest battle the Multiverse had ever seen.
