Planet Type Terrestrial - Habitable

Inventa is an unnatural world that was formed by Medea, just like the rest of the known universe. However, Inventa was part of an experiment by Medea who wanted to see if two worlds could exist in one.

This led Inventa to be formed as a hollow planet. There are three layers to Inventa as a result, these are known as the Outer World, the Dark World and the Inner World.

The Outer World

The main life on the planet of Inventa resides on its surface layers. From the flower rivers found on similar, but distant planets, to the greenery rivalled by its neighbour, Chronix. Inventa is flooded with life in all forms from all over the Multiverse. Within The Curbian Solar System Inventa is considered to be the most diverse planet, due to its variations in life, its terrain features, and the deities that watch with a careful eye.

Surface Life

Life found on the surface of Inventa is extremely diverse. There are countless forms, colours, and unique approaches to survival, from the humanoid races that dominate the planet, to the micro-world of bugs and insects. Or in certain cases, the no-so micro world. Magic has imbued itself with a plethora of different naturally occurring evolutions and has created a series of what some might class as monsters. This includes large winged reptilian like birds that most know as Dragons, with a heritage rich and diverse their mysterious presence leaves many in awe.

Not all life on Inventa was created through evolution however, a lot of it was created by greater beings known as the Lesser Deities. These deities create balance, control the weather, teach followers, and take care of the other planes of existence. The deities that rule over Inventa in the modern day are known as the Imurdiatry Pantheon and as mortals explore the planes more the religions become more informed.

The deities of Inventa have a wide range of approaches to life, from the purest of good intentions to the most evil of all. This allows the freedom of will to exist within the mortal realm, letting individuals choose their own fate, whether they believe it to be pre-written or not. It is unclear if a deities or series of deities pre-determine the fates of mortals, or even immortals, but it is well documented that deities exist to keep the balance between good and evil. This is seen all over the surface of Inventa as mortals have access to a range of magics which bring to life the nicest, and nastiest, parts of ones imagination.

The life on the surface of Inventa expands planet wide, from the depths of the oceans to the tops of mountains. There are fish, birds, felines, canines, elementals, magical monsters, and races most planets within the known universe might find too expansive to understand. However life goes deeper than what one can see, expanding underground into cavernous terrain. Some animals and creatures love to make these places their homes, from Orc tribes that live in the sun-beaten deserts, to bears and scorpions who also seek similar shelter for other reasons.

Yet, unlike most planets, Inventa hides a secret. Some of the caves and tunnels found within the crust of Inventa don’t seem to end. They stretch for miles underneath the planet’s surface, getting deeper and deeper with every step. These tunnels and connections have come to be known as “Makenur” in the common tongue, meaning “link to another world”. Those brave enough to follow these connections down often come back changed, seeing and experience things they didn’t think to be possible. It is now well recorded by several expeditions and experiments that the planet has a Dark World, and also explains the presence of races like the Dark Elves, Drow, and even Elcc.

Aquatic Life

Sailing on the waves of the oceans, and hiding within the dark depths below the surface, life has formed in the waters of Inventa. Much like their land dwelling distant cousins, humanoids have learned to live here too forming expansive cities for Merfolk and the Sahuagin, to name a few. Trade is often made with land dwelling civilisations from the Aquakin, swapping many resources for both party’s benefits.

Although the waters are inhabited by humanoids, it makes them no less dangerous than the wilderness found on land. Large stretches of deep ocean and sea seem to harbour little to no life. This was first theorised to be due to the lack of nutrients and ability to sustain life, however since then there have been several revelations to this theory. Life exists all over the oceans, due to the multiple links throughout the world to Pelagos which brings in nutrient and life rich water all over the planet. Which leads to the question, why are expanses of water seemingly uninhabited?

Sea Serpent

This comes down to monstrous presences and magical creatures who wish not to be seen. Leviathans large enough to take down the biggest of ships swim the ocean looking for their next feed. Draconic creatures lurk below the waves, holding treasure and defending their territory from anything that dares to get close. Great sea beasts like the Megalodon, Sea Serpents, or even the Great White Whale patrol large expanses of water, ensuring that it is theirs and theirs alone.

As expected, most life in the seas and oceans of Inventa is found within miles of the coasts. This is due to the richness of the water found there, from the naturally forming coral reefs to the engineered waste that gets dumped into the ocean attracting fish from all over. Unlike other planets however, Inventa is very good at keeping its oceans clean. Whilst waste from the land may be dumped into the oceans and seas creating a food source for fish and other aquatic beasts, the waste that gets dumped and isn’t eaten is dealt with in another way.

Waste harmful to aquatic life that may take years to break down through decomposition is sought out by unique bacterium known as “Aqularks”. These bacterium, often forming in their millions, cling to “clean” waste that won’t decompose, breaking it down with their magically endured saliva and producing a unique substance known as Aqua-Mana. This process is known as Remanafication and can be seen even on the surface of the planet, allowing magic to be embed back into the land to create a stable world for all to live on.

Aquatic life isn’t just tied to the seas and oceans however. Rivers that run from the mountainous regions harbour their own unique life. Fish from the rivers provide food for surface dwelling creatures, in exchange the nutrients excreted by surface dwellers eventually find their way back into the fast flowing waters. Great Lakes hide secrets in murky depths, and wetlands provide perfect grounds for amphibious life. Some of these places are too deep for most surface life to explore, and because of their positioning within the land, aquatic races often haven’t made their way to these places due to lack of knowledge of its existence.

Just like the surface dwelling creatures however, expansive oceans and lakes also, and strangely, form in the Dark World. Large bodies of water hundreds of miles wide and deeper than most are willing to explore in the darkness exist here. This brings with it unique monsters and creatures, often heard about in folklore around the world and usually fuelling the nightmares of juvenile creatures.

Subterranean Life

When the word “subterranean” is used, most think of caves with bats, small streams, stalagmites and stalactites. However this is all considered to be part of the Outer World on Inventa, forming part of the “normal” way of life and knowledge. Beneath the surface, miles underground, another world exists, the Dark World. This place is a series of enormous expansive caverns that stretches all over the planet, with tunnels linking them much like roads link surface settlements. This deep underground life is experienced differently. There is no naturally forming light from the sun, Yxen, meaning that growing anything requires a unique approach.

Flora in the Dark World is often considered to be a form of fungi, growing in dank conditions that rarely can be argued are ideal of life. However, after the Outer World made contact with intelligent life in the Dark World it was revealed that life uses the absence of life to form entrancing flora each with some form of bioluminescence. Most flora in the Dark World can be related back to sentient plants which fed on living beings as a form of energy and combined it with vents from deeper within the planet that produce breathable gases for plants. This means that a vast majority of flora in the Dark World is carnivorous, making traversing the Dark Forests and Jungles extremely dangerous when compared to the Outer World. Whilst most plants rely on consuming small creatures like lizards, insects and the occasional elemental, some have grown far larger to consume bigger prey. This includes things like Void Bears, Ghost Bats, and Depth Hounds, however humanoids can also fall victim to such plants.

More study and research is being carried out by Dark World residents on the plants, as well as scholars studying their own existence, as the absence of a sun makes life theoretically impossible. It is clear that this theoretical impossibility isn’t based within true fact, for settlements and colonies can be found throughout the Dark World, forming nations, countries, and rebellious groups much like the Outer World. Only the most stable of caverns are built in, due to the ever changing nature of the tunnel systems from geological processes and enormous beasts like the Dire Mole.

The most shocking discovery for Dark World dwellers was the realisation that they’re not the deepest living entities on the planet of Inventa however. Another world, vastly different from the two already mentioned here, exists at the core of the planet.
