Introduction

The Troublemaker is the god of Artifice, Death, Evil, and Madness who is often mistaken to be chaotic in nature. Her very existence has raised many talks over what chaos means, and should it be used for personal gain.

True worshippers of The Troublemaker know of her truly neutral existence in which she aims to cause as much mischief to gain as much power as she can. Her power-hungry existence makes for a very unique circumstance, where she does not seek an end goal. She wouldn’t know what to do with the power once she has it which indicates that her interests lay in the journey of acquiring the power.

Many of her worshippers, and critics, agree that this could be a way of a deity testing the boundaries of the multiverse and herself, forever increasing what it is she is doing. Her games have previously sparked wars, both on the material plane, and interplanar, all for the sake of the rise and fall of the chaos. It goes without saying that chaos breeds change, which is where The Troublemaker clashes with The Everchange. Seeing as stagnation in eyes of both deities breeds death, they both seek change, but in two different forms. The Everchange’s opinion of The Troublemaker entices words such as “brash” and “irrational” in conversation since The Troublemaker’s form of change comes from influencing rebellions and riots.

The Troublemaker is possibly the most confusing of the Banished Gods, for her actions, whilst evil in nature, have previously laid way for innovation and exploration of both the multiverse, and the world of Inventa. Whilst her methods are considered destructive, she is seen as one of the two engines of progress, with nicknames often being along the lines of “Harbinger of Dark Ages” or the “Twisted Patron of Invention”.

Symbology

The Troublemaker is symbolised through the depiction of a broken clockwork heart. It is a stylised, metallic heart resembling a complex clockwork mechanism. One half of the heart appears perfectly functioning, with gears smoothly turning and pistons pumping. The other half is cracked and broken, with frozen gears, and stuck pistons, yet somehow, the entire heart still pulses with an unnerving, irregular rhythm.

Her symbology is expected to portray that of a personal loss – potentially the pursuit of power stemming from a deep-seated pain to control what she feels she has lost control over. It is unknown how accurate this is, for it could also be a red herring that means no more than an identifying mark.

Manifestation

When mortals teeter on the brink of insanity it is often the Troublemaker’s whispers that nudge them over. From vivid hallucinations, maddening compulsions, or voices in their head, the methods the Troublemaker’s influence use often pushes individuals to spark rebellions, or create destructive inventions.

Her existence is associated to the school of illusion, for her influence is generally not direct, but through ideas and fear. The spell “Mad Hallucination” was created in honour of The Troublemaker for use during rituals when sacrificing sentient beings in her honour.

Relationships to Undead

The Troublemaker’s domain of death has led her to influence those that seek immortality through unlife. Some Curse Broken, liches, and other intelligent undead revere her as a patron, using their immortality to pursue forbidden knowledge and power at her behest.

Temples and Places of Worship

The Well of Unbound Potential

The Well of Unbound Potential lies hidden deep within the crumbling ruins of a forgotten Ferityx temple. This seemingly bottomless chasm is whispered to hold the very gaze of the Troublemaker herself. Maniaforged seeking the goddess's favour approach the well after undergoing a radical transformation. They might have grafted clockwork limbs onto their bodies, imbibed a volatile concoction that grants temporary superhuman strength, or even etched their minds with forbidden lore, granting glimpses of the chaotic future.

Jumping into the well is a desperate gamble. The Troublemaker judges their intent and innovation. If their sacrifice and ambition align with the goddess's capricious desires, they erupt from the well in a violent explosion of sapphire flames, forever marked by the Troublemaker's touch and imbued with a surge of raw power. However, should their motivations be deemed weak or their alterations insufficient, they are condemned to fall for all eternity, their screams echoing up the endless shaft as a grim warning to others.
